The first 12 Days of Cookies newsletter arrived today bearing a whiff of coconutty goodness: Alton Brown's Paradise Macaroons.
While the newsletter has featured coconut macaroons in the past, this particular recipe tries for a new spin by dipping the tops in chocolate and sprinkling them with chopped macadamia nuts. That's appropriate, no? Two tastes of the tropics in one.
I've had hit or miss results with Alton Brown's baking recipes. His pie crust did not work for me, but we enjoyed his chocolate waffles. Still, any macaroon recipe has to be better than the one from Nigella Lawson's How to Be a Domestic Goddess, which fell apart on me twice.
As they say . . . shame on me.
Check out today's recipe on Food Network's site, or download Paradise Macaroons into MacGourmet.
