Speak of the devil, and he appears.
In this case, blog about candy cane cookies, and another candy cane cookie recipes appears in your inbox the next morning.
Well, I'll be da - OK, maybe I'm taking the analogy too far.
Anyway, these cookies aren't quite the same as the recipe I baked yesterday. The Neelys' cookies are lemon flavored, rather than vanilla mint. They also twist two separate strips of dough together to create the striped candy-cane look instead of creating a variegated rectangle.
By now, I think it's clear that rather than going with a theme, like last year's international cookies, this year's newsletter is all about promoting the new crop of TV chefs. Half of the recipes so far have come from the rising stars at the network instead of our old favorites. We've come a long way since the days when most of the recipes came courtesy of the net's only dedicated pastry chef.
Check out today's recipe on Food Network's site, or download Candy Cane Cookies into MacGourmet.
